Nouns are of five kinds :

  • 1.      Proper Nouns
  • 2.      Common nouns
  • 3.      Collective nouns
  • 4.      Abstract nouns
  • 5.      Material nouns


      I Proper nouns :
A proper noun is the name of a particular  person, place, things etc.
1.      India is my motherland.
2.       Einstein was a grate scientist.
3.       The Adi Granth is a holy book.
In these sentences, India is the name of a particular country ; Einstein is the name of a particular person and the Adi Granth is the name of a particular Book.
*A proper noun always begins with a capital lettter.

II  Common Nouns:
A Common noun is a name given in a common to every person, animal, or thing of the same class or kind.
1.      It is an interesting book.
2.      A  bird is sitting on a tree.
In these sentences, a book, bird and tree are common nouns.
